Has anyone actually seen solid evidence that fiber supplements are helpful for kittens? Everywhere I look, people are adding pumpkin, psyllium, or branded “fiber boosters” to their kitten’s diet if there’s any sign of soft stool. But aren’t kittens’ digestive tracts supposed to be getting used to digesting actual food-not fillers? I get that fiber can help with hairballs or constipation in adult cats, but is there real science saying it’s safe or beneficial for growing kittens, especially when their food is already “complete and balanced”? Or is this just one of those internet trends that caught on with no real research behind it?
Would love to hear if anyone has seen peer-reviewed studies or has been advised by an actual vet nutritionist to routinely supplement kitten diets with fiber. Otherwise, why risk messing with their gut while they’re still developing?
